Construction & Facilities Manager – Veterinary Clinics

About the role
Virtue Vets is seeking a Construction & Facilities Manager to own the end‑to‑end delivery and ongoing operation of its veterinary clinic estate across London. You will lead new clinic fit‑outs, refurbishments and the day‑to‑day maintenance of existing sites, reporting directly to the leadership team.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver new clinic CAPEX projects from brief through handover (1,500–4,000 sq ft units).
- Manage external design teams, principal contractors, sub‑trades and specialist installers.
- Build project budgets, run tenders, negotiate contracts and control costs against CAPEX targets.
- Drive aggressive programmes to minimise delays and associated costs.
- Coordinate veterinary equipment vendors and integrate installations into the build sequence.
- Oversee logistics, storage, shipping and receipt of FF&E and clinical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with landlord requirements, building regulations, planning conditions, fire and DDA standards.
- Own planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the portfolio.
- Manage service contracts for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, cleaning, waste, pest, fire and security.
- Maintain mission‑critical clinical installations such as imaging, autoclaves, anaesthetic gas systems, oxygen and water purity.
- Act as primary contact for landlords on lease, dilapidations and consents.
- Source construction materials, FF&E and small plant, driving cost reductions through better sourcing and contract terms.
Required profile
- Chartered Construction Manager / Project Manager (MCIOB, MAPM, MRICS or equivalent).
- Proven track record delivering fit‑out projects in central London.
- Experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams and external contractors.
- Strong commercial acumen with ability to manage budgets and negotiate contracts.
- Knowledge of building regulations, fire safety, DDA standards and landlord requirements.
