Construction Instructor

About the role

An established Further Education provider is seeking a Construction Instructor to deliver practical learning within its Construction and Building Services department. This role is ideal for experienced construction professionals who want to transition from site‑based work to a hands‑on teaching environment, supporting learners as they develop trade skills.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain construction workshops for practical teaching sessions
• Ensure workshops are fully equipped, organised and ready for delivery
• Support students during practical activities and independent study sessions
• Assist learners both in the presence and absence of teaching staff
• Maintain a safe, clean and professional learning environment
• Monitor learner behaviour and ensure compliance with college standards
• Liaise with teaching staff and managers regarding equipment, resources and workshop requirements

Required profile

• Construction industry experience within a trade area such as Carpentry, Brickwork, Plumbing, Multi‑Skills or Property Maintenance
• Practical workshop experience and strong health & safety awareness
• Ability to support and motivate learners
• Good organisational and communication skills
• Experience working with young people or apprentices is advantageous
• Proactive approach and ability to work independently
