Construction Materials Technician Apprenticeship (Level 3)

About the role

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Construction Materials Testing Technician Apprentice to join the Testronix Ltd team in Carlisle, supporting the sampling and testing of construction materials both in the laboratory and on site. You’ll gain hands‑on experience testing concrete, aggregates, soils and asphalt to ensure they meet required standards.

Key responsibilities

• Sample and test construction materials including concrete, aggregates, soils and asphalt.
• Carry out testing on construction sites and occasionally in the laboratory.
• Follow recognised testing methods, procedures and industry standards.
• Accurately record test results and complete testing documentation.
• Ensure samples are correctly identified and traceable throughout the testing process.
• Operate specialist laboratory and testing equipment safely and correctly.
• Identify and report equipment faults or maintenance requirements.
• Adhere to quality, health & safety and environmental procedures.
• Travel to customer sites and work in varied environments.
• Communicate professionally with customers, site teams and colleagues.
• Maintain clean, organised and safe laboratory and working areas.
• Support the wider laboratory team with day‑to‑day activities.

Required profile

• Enjoys working on construction sites and being part of real‑world projects.
• Practical, reliable and detail‑focused with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
• Confident using basic maths and recording data accurately.
• Physically capable of manual handling and working in fast‑paced environments.
• Holds a full UK manual driving licence and is aged 18 or over.
