Consultant Ecologist (London)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Consultant Ecologist to join a fast‑growing multidisciplinary consultancy in London. You will work on a diverse portfolio of transport, rail, utilities, energy and development projects, collaborating with experienced environmental and engineering professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ecological surveys and habitat assessments across a range of infrastructure projects.
• Prepare high‑quality technical reports, including Phase Ecological Assessments (PEAs), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs) and protected‑species assessments.
• Advise project teams on ecological constraints and support Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable outcomes and contribute to project planning and client liaison.
• Maintain professional development through training, mentoring and membership support.

Required profile

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Experience undertaking ecological surveys and producing technical reports.
• Good knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.
• Experience with protected‑species surveys and habitat assessments.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
• Based in or near London with strong communication and organisational abilities.

Required skills

• GIS (beneficial).
• Protected species assessment techniques.
