Consultant General Physician

About the role

We are seeking a Consultant General Physician to join Borders General Hospital, delivering high‑quality general internal medicine across the admissions unit, wards and high‑dependency environment. The role includes on‑call duties and the opportunity to develop a special interest.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care to in‑patients in the admissions unit and downstream wards.
• Manage patients in the medical high‑dependency area.
• Participate in on‑call rotas for general medicine alongside 16 consultant colleagues.
• Deliver specialty clinics in line with experience and interests.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• MRCP (or equivalent) qualification.
• Registration with the General Medical Council and inclusion on the Specialist Register for General (Internal) Medicine or Acute Medicine, or within six months of obtaining CCT.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
