Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry (Part‑time, NHS Lothian)

About the role

The NHS Lothian Public Dental Service is seeking a motivated Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry to join its multidisciplinary team. Working part‑time (22.5 hours per week) at Howden Health Centre, you will collaborate closely with the special‑care and paediatric teams at the Edinburgh Dental Institute and the Oral and Maxillofacial Service at St John’s Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality paediatric dental care to NHS patients.
• Contribute to the development and optimisation of the paediatric service within the Public Dental Service.
• Work jointly with special‑care, paediatric, and oral‑maxillofacial colleagues on complex cases.
• Participate in teaching, mentorship and professional development activities.
• Maintain clinical governance standards and contribute to audit and research initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered on the GDC Specialist Register or within six months of eligibility.
• Qualified dentist with substantial experience in paediatric dentistry.
• Commitment to NHS values, equality, diversity and patient‑centred care.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
