Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry (Permanent, Part‑time)

About the role

The NHS Lothian Public Dental Service is seeking a highly motivated Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry for a permanent, part‑time position (22.5 hours per week) based at Howden Health Centre. The role starts in November 2026 (negotiable) and forms an integral part of the Paediatric team, working closely with the special‑care team, Edinburgh Dental Institute and St John’s Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality paediatric dental care within the Public Dental Service.
• Collaborate with the special‑care and paediatric teams at the Edinburgh Dental Institute.
• Coordinate with the Oral and Maxillo‑Facial Service at St John’s Hospital.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of the paediatric service to meet patient needs.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and clinical governance activities.

Required profile

• Registered on the GDC Specialist Register or within six months of eligibility.
• Qualified dentist with experience in paediatric dentistry.
• Commitment to NHS values, equality, diversity and inclusive practice.
• Ability to work part‑time on a permanent contract.
