Consultant in Public Health Medicine – NHS Grampian

About the role

NHS Grampian is seeking an innovative Consultant in Public Health Medicine to join its Health Protection Team in the North East of Scotland. This permanent, full‑time position offers a blend of clinical, managerial and academic responsibilities within a collaborative public health directorate.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the Health Protection Team (approximately 5 sessions per week).
• Coordinate the Population Health Screening Programme (approximately 3 sessions per week).
• Engage in training, teaching and mentorship of junior staff.
• Develop and lead research projects and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain professional development and support academic links with the University of Aberdeen.

Required profile

• Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC (must be in place before start).
• Higher specialist training leading to CCT or entry on the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months of interview.
• Eligibility via CESR/Portfolio Pathway only after specialist registration is awarded.
• Internationally recognised specialist qualification approved by the GMC is acceptable.
