Consultant Interventional Radiology

About the role

The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, NHS Lothian is seeking a Consultant in Interventional Radiology for a permanent, full‑time (40 hours per week) position. This senior role combines direct clinical service, leadership of trainee development and contribution to departmental teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a full range of interventional radiology procedures for patients across the Trust.
• Provide senior consultant support to radiology trainees and radiographers, emphasizing rapid consultant‑led assessment.
• Lead and contribute to the teaching of radiology and radiography for junior staff.
• Manage nine Direct Clinical Care (DCC) sessions and a core Service Provision Agreement (SPA), with potential for additional SPA allocation.
• Participate in service development, quality improvement and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (CCT or within six months of entry).
• Completion, or completion within six months, of specialist Interventional Radiology training (or equivalent Portfolio Pathway qualification).
• For non‑UK applicants, demonstrable equivalent training and qualifications.
