Consultant Interventional Radiology – Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

About the role

The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is seeking a Consultant in Interventional Radiology to join its established radiology team. This permanent, full‑time position offers a high‑visibility consultant presence, supporting trainees, radiographers and delivering rapid, consultant‑led patient assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical support to radiology trainees and radiographers.
• Lead rapid, consultant‑driven assessment and treatment of patients requiring interventional radiology.
• Deliver teaching programmes for radiology and radiography trainees.
• Contribute to service planning and quality improvement initiatives.
• Manage allocated Direct Clinical Care (DCC) sessions and core Service Provision Activities (SPA).

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• Eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (CCT or within 6 months of entry).
• Completion, or within six months of completion, of specialist Interventional Radiology training.
• Equivalent training for non‑UK applicants.
