Content Designer

About the role

The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government is looking for a Content Designer to join its Elections Digital team. You will help shape online services such as voter registration, proxy and postal voting, and support tools for Electoral Registration Offices, ensuring they are clear, accessible and meet user needs.

Key responsibilities

• Write and edit plain‑English content for digital services, following the GOV.UK Style Guide and Service Manual.
• Apply the GOV.UK Design System and content patterns to create consistent user journeys.
• Use research, analytics and user feedback to test, iterate and improve content.
• Collaborate with service designers, researchers, interaction designers, developers and product managers.
• Prototype new content designs and present them to stakeholders.
• Provide and receive constructive feedback within the multidisciplinary team.

Required profile

• Strong ability to translate complex information into clear, concise language.
• Experience working with accessibility standards and low‑digital‑confidence users.
• Confidence presenting ideas and prototypes to diverse audiences.
• Commitment to delivering inclusive public‑sector services.
