Contract Data Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join Connells Group’s Group Technology team on a 9‑month contract. You will be responsible for delivering reporting data across the Group, working with medallion architecture, data modelling and pipelines, and supporting strategic decision‑making for all brands.

Key responsibilities

• Apply best practices for data design, ensuring scalable and high‑quality architecture.
• Provide timely root‑cause analysis and resolution within SLA timeframes.
• Collaborate with the Core Data Lead to build unified customer and property data models.
• Work with the Enterprise Data Architect to enhance ingestion and modelling of source data, especially CRM data.
• Design and develop data ingestion processes from multiple sources and maintain the Common Data Model.
• Implement and monitor data pipelines to ensure reliability, performance and security.
• Support cross‑functional data projects and proactively monitor systems to minimise disruption.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Data Engineering with hands‑on Python, data modelling and warehousing.
• Strong background in incident resolution, change management and problem‑solving within SLAs.
• Hands‑on experience with Spark, SQL and Delta Lake.
• Cloud development experience on AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Working knowledge of Medallion Architecture and Agile development principles.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence presenting technical ideas.
