Contract Manager – Highways Projects

About the role

You will oversee the successful delivery of multiple highways projects across England, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and on schedule while maintaining strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Managing the day‑to‑day delivery of multiple projects across England.
• Overseeing project programmes and ensuring key milestones are achieved.
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
• Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Monitoring health, safety, quality and environmental compliance.
• Reviewing project progress and resolving delivery challenges.
• Supporting commercial and operational performance across projects.
• Maintaining project documentation, reporting and site records.
• Ensuring works are delivered on time and within budget.
• Travelling nationally to support projects as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience within the highways sector.
• Strong understanding of highways construction and maintenance works.
• Proven client‑facing and operational management experience.
• Experience managing site activities, programmes and project documentation.
• Willingness to travel nationally for project requirements.

Required skills

• CSCS Card (minimum requirement).
• SSSTS certification (beneficial).
• SMSTS certification (beneficial).
• VRS experience (beneficial).
