Contract Prototype Assembler – Very Competitive

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Prototype Wire Person on a contract basis to join a leading test‑system solutions provider. The role involves producing high‑quality wiring looms, cable assemblies and test equipment for aerospace, defence, rail, telecom and energy markets.

Key responsibilities

• Produce wiring looms, cable assemblies and test equipment items from drawings and kits to required standards and deadlines.
• Work closely with in‑house engineers to resolve technical queries and provide build solutions for prototype assemblies.
• Maintain high‑quality soldering, crimping, lacing and splicing throughout the assembly process.
• Assemble PCBs where required and ensure all work complies with aerospace, defence and military standards (IPC‑620).

Required profile

• Experience in prototype or low‑volume production of wiring looms, cable harnesses or similar sub‑assemblies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring schedules and circuit diagrams.
• Familiarity with aerospace/defence quality standards and documentation.

Required skills

• Soldering to a consistently high standard.
• Crimping, lacing and splicing of cables.
• Knowledge of various cable types, connectors and assembly techniques.
• Reading and applying engineering drawings and wiring schematics.
• Basic PCB assembly (desirable).
