Contractor Escort – HMP Exeter

About the role

This temporary full‑time position involves escorting and supervising contractors on site at HMP Exeter while construction work is carried out. You will ensure the safety of Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and non‑MOJ personnel and support the efficient delivery of project tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Book in and escort all contractors, tools and vehicles within the prison.
• Check and maintain an up‑to‑date tool list.
• Search contractors and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Supervise contractors at all times and keep them under constant observation.
• Maintain regular radio communication and keep accurate records of those in your charge.
• Act as first on‑scene responder for incidents and work with the team to resolve issues.
• Respect prisoners' rights and dignity while performing duties.

Required profile

• Honest, reliable and hard‑working with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent team player who can follow instructions and adapt to changing situations.
• Willingness to undergo on‑site training; no prior experience required.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £14.55 inclusive of holiday pay.
• Standard 37‑hour week, Monday‑Friday, with overtime paid at the weekday rate.
• Weekly pay frequency.
• Full training provided on site.
