Contracts Manager – Fife & Tayside

About the role

The Contracts Manager will lead the delivery of asphalt surfacing contracts across Fife, Tayside and East Central Scotland. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this field‑based position ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee surfacing squads on public highway, residential, commercial and industrial projects.
• Manage contract performance, ensuring delivery against time, cost and quality targets.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers, local authorities, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Identify growth opportunities to increase volume, expand the customer base and improve profitability.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental and company policies.
• Monitor operational and financial performance against business plans.
• Provide leadership and support to operational teams, fostering continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and reporting for effective contract management.
• Implement process improvements to boost efficiency and customer service.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading surfacing activities within a local authority or strategic road network environment.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and contract performance.
• Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail.
• Ability to build and sustain strong stakeholder relationships.
