About the role

The University of Exeter is seeking a part-time Contracts Officer to join its Legal Team. This 0.6 FTE fixed-term position runs from 1 June 2026 to 31 March 2027, supporting the GAMRIF FAILSAFE project and other externally funded research activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Negotiate, draft and administer contracts related to research, commercial and education projects.
  • Provide contractual advice and support to academic and professional services staff.
  • Maintain accurate contract records and ensure compliance with university policies and funding body requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Legal Team and other departments to resolve contractual issues.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation for funded projects.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in contract negotiation and administration, preferably within a research or higher‑education environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a busy, collaborative team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
