Conveyancing Assistant – New Build (Chelmsford)

About the role

Our client, a reputable law firm in Chelmsford, is expanding its New Build department and seeks an experienced Conveyancing Assistant. You will join a supportive, modern office environment and work closely with fee earners and on‑site sales negotiators to deliver high‑quality conveyancing services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support to fee earners and maintain communication with on‑site sales negotiators.
• Take client instructions, raise enquiries with solicitors for developers, and manage electronic ID checks, OS2 and bankruptcy searches.
• Issue contracts, handle sale or part‑exchange enquiries, and support contract exchange and completion transactions.
• Conduct and verify pre‑contract searches, checking for local authority proposals, leases, easements, covenants, mortgages, land tax, flood or subsidence risks.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of residential property experience within a reputable law firm.
• Knowledge of new‑build conveyancing is desirable.
• Strong IT aptitude and ability to use a case‑management system.
• Ability to meet deadlines and communicate effectively with developers, solicitors, lenders and clients.

• Case‑management system proficiency.
