Conveyancing Fee Earner – Case Handler (South Shields)

About the role

Join Sort Legal, a specialist conveyancing firm, as a Conveyancing Fee Earner based in South Shields. You will own a caseload of residential freehold and registered sale and purchase transactions while mentoring junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of freehold and registered sale/purchase transactions, meeting SLA targets.
• Supervise and review the work of Conveyancing Assistants, signing off contracts, exchanges and completions.
• Handle key stages of purchase transactions, including title approval, enquiries and client reporting.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal SLA commitments.
• Conduct regular file reviews to monitor progress.
• Act as the first point of contact for client and introducer complaints, resolving issues promptly.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience managing your own conveyancing caseload of freehold and registered transactions.
• Strong knowledge of conveyancing regulations (CLC Code of Conduct, money‑laundering, data protection).
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational ability and capacity to prioritise under pressure.
• Collaborative team player with an assertive, calm and professional approach.
• Desirable: Licensed Conveyancer or Solicitor qualification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with case management systems.
• Strong IT skills.
