Core Subject Teaching Assistant – Southwark School

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Core Subject Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Southwark, London. The role is full‑time, five days a week, and focuses on supporting pupils across English, Maths and Science, helping them reach their full academic potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support in core subjects.
• Collaborate closely with teachers to identify and overcome learning barriers.
• Assist with classroom activities and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Encourage student confidence, engagement and progress.
• Support pupils with additional learning needs where appropriate.
• Monitor student progress and give feedback to teaching staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational role.
• Strong knowledge of English, Maths and Science.
• A degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive, proactive and supportive attitude.

Required skills

• Subject knowledge in core curriculum areas (English, Maths, Science).
