Cost Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with a leading manufacturer in Teesside to hire an experienced Cost Accountant (Costing Manager) for their finance team. The role involves maintaining and auditing the standard cost model, managing ERP/MRP data, and providing reliable analytics to support business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and deploy standard costs and machine rates in the ERP/MRP system.
• Prepare financial simulations for investment appraisals and assess impact on costs and overhead.
• Regularly review and improve the cost model for accuracy, reliability and flexibility.
• Audit ERP/MRP master data and production data to identify variances.
• Support local and group reporting and assist during internal and external audits, including JSOX.
• Develop Business Intelligence tools and data models for the finance function.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified or fully qualified member of a recognised accounting body (e.g., CIMA, ACCA).
• Deep understanding of standard costing processes and principles.
• Strong analytical ability with expert spreadsheet skills.
• Excellent communication skills to convey financial data to non‑financial stakeholders.

Required skills

• ERP/MRP systems (experience with Aurora System21 preferred).
• Business Intelligence tools, particularly QlikView.
• Advanced Excel for complex spreadsheet analysis.
