Cost Controller – Water Network Expenditure

About the role

The Cost Controller will oversee governance, administration, monitoring and reporting of Water Network expenditure, including £15m of leakage spend across all regions. Working in a hybrid setting, you will ensure financial confidence in meeting OFWAT mandatory targets.

Key responsibilities

• Track daily expenditures, budget commitments and payments, identifying and reporting variances.
• Authorise and validate Ellipsis jobs, WBS codes and estimated prices in the Construction Database.
• Raise purchase orders, match invoices, obtain PODs and approve payments for leakage and water projects.
• Prepare contract payment certifications and manage procurement queries.
• Produce regular financial review reports and present progress at Governance Meetings.

Required profile

• Full UK driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Assertive decision‑making and capability to hold difficult conversations with service providers.
• Desirable: suitable engineering qualification.
