Cover Supervisor – Classroom Management

About the role

The Cover Supervisor role is a dynamic, front‑line position that steps in when the regular teacher is absent. You will maintain a safe, focused learning environment across a range of subjects, ensuring pupils stay on task with pre‑set work.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes for students aged 11‑16 in the teacher’s absence.
• Manage classroom behaviour and keep pupils engaged with planned activities.
• Ensure a safe and productive learning atmosphere across subjects such as Mathematics, English and Physical Education.
• Adapt quickly to different lesson plans and subject material.
• Report any incidents or concerns to senior staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with young people (e.g., sports coach, camp counsellor, tutor, teaching assistant).
• Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong professional references covering the last two years of employment or study.
• Legal entitlement to work full‑time in the UK.
