Cover Supervisor – Classroom Support Role

About the role

The Cover Supervisor provides essential classroom support when the regular teacher is absent. Working across a range of subjects, the role focuses on maintaining behaviour, keeping pupils engaged with pre‑set work, and ensuring a safe, productive learning environment. This full‑time, long‑term position starts in September and offers a pathway to a permanent role within the school community.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes of students aged 11‑16 in the teacher’s absence.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a calm atmosphere.
• Ensure pupils stay on task with pre‑planned activities.
• Monitor safety and address any disruptions promptly.
• Adapt quickly to different subjects, from Mathematics to Physical Education.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with young people (e.g., sports coach, camp counsellor, tutor, teaching assistant).
• Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong professional references covering the last two years.
• Legal entitlement to work full‑time in the UK.
