Cover Supervisor – Full‑time Fixed‑term

About the role

We are looking for a Cover Supervisor to deliver high‑quality cover for whole‑class lessons across the secondary phase at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy. The role is full‑time (37 hours per week) on a fixed‑term basis, covering staff absences and supporting student learning throughout the term and INSET days.

Key responsibilities

• Provide regular cover for whole classes when teachers are absent.
• Maintain classroom behaviour standards and follow the school’s behaviour policy.
• Ensure students complete any cover work or assignments left by the absent teacher.
• Promote active participation and raise student aspirations during cover sessions.
• Collaborate with senior staff to report attendance and any learning issues.

Required profile

• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom (no visa sponsorship).
• Experience or training in managing secondary‑age pupils in a classroom setting.
• Ability to follow school policies and deliver lesson plans left by absent staff.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
