Cover Supervisor

About the role

Spencer Clarke Group is partnering with several secondary schools in Preston to find enthusiastic Cover Supervisors. In this role you will step into classrooms when teachers are absent, ensuring continuity of learning and a positive environment for students.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, delivering pre‑prepared lesson materials.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and keep pupils engaged and on task.
• Support students across a range of subjects and year groups, providing assistance where needed.
• Report back to teaching staff on student progress, behaviour and any issues arising during the lesson.
• Work collaboratively with school staff to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.

Required profile

• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Confidence supervising and engaging groups of secondary‑aged students.
• Ability to remain calm, adaptable and professional in a classroom setting.
• Genuine interest in education and supporting young people’s development.
• Flexibility and reliability for short‑term and long‑term placements.
