Cover Supervisor (Secondary Pupil Referral Unit)

About the role

We are looking for a resilient and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit in Christchurch. The role involves delivering pre‑planned lessons across a broad curriculum when regular teachers are absent, helping vulnerable young people re‑engage with education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑prepared lessons across a mixed secondary curriculum, ensuring continuity of learning.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment.
• Manage student behaviour using restorative and trauma‑informed approaches.
• Support pupils in meeting individual learning targets and recording attendance, behaviour, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to monitor progress.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑aged students, especially those with behavioural, emotional, or additional learning needs.
• Strong knowledge of the UK secondary curriculum.
• Proven behaviour management skills and confidence to lead groups independently.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Resilience, patience, and a solution‑focused attitude.
