Cover Supervisor – Secondary School Support

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to step into secondary school classrooms across Dorset when teachers are absent. This temporary role offers graduates a hands‑on opportunity to develop classroom management, leadership and subject‑specific experience while making a positive impact on pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Lead lessons using pre‑prepared teaching materials across a range of subjects.
• Maintain a focused, engaging and safe learning environment.
• Support students in completing tasks and achieving learning objectives.
• Manage behaviour confidently and professionally.
• Ensure continuity of learning and build positive relationships with students and staff.

Required profile

• Confident, adaptable and resilient with strong interpersonal skills.
• Passionate about supporting young people and comfortable leading groups.
• Recent graduate or individual considering a career in teaching, educational psychology or youth work.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Required skills

• Effective communication and classroom leadership.
• Ability to follow pre‑planned lesson materials and adapt as needed.
