Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools (Chester)

About the role

Academics is looking for enthusiastic individuals to act as Cover Supervisors in secondary schools across Chester. This short‑term, paid position offers a practical introduction to classroom management for those with a university degree, coaching background, or youth‑work experience.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and facilitate classroom activities during teacher absence, following pre‑set lesson plans.
• Maintain student engagement and ensure tasks are completed on time.
• Apply behaviour‑management techniques to create a positive learning environment.
• Report any concerns to the school’s senior staff as required.

Required profile

• University degree, higher diploma, or relevant coaching/mentoring experience.
• Strong confidence, adaptability and clear communication.
• Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS (or already on the Update Service).
• Ability to commute to secondary schools throughout Chester.
