Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools in Chester

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to lead secondary school classrooms in the Chester area on a term‑time basis. You will step in when a teacher is absent, delivering pre‑planned work and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑set lessons and activities in the teacher’s absence.
• Maintain a focused, respectful classroom atmosphere.
• Support pupils with questions and encourage discussion.
• Manage behaviour, ensure safety, and uphold school policies.
• Collect completed work, record outcomes and report on the session.
• Act as a positive role model for students.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience working with children or vulnerable adults.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
• Eligibility to register with the Education Workforce Council (or willingness to register).
• Calm, organised approach with strong communication abilities.
• Genuine passion for supporting pupil achievement.
