Cover Supervisor – Secondary Schools (Wigan)

About the role

EdStaff is looking for proactive Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools in Wigan and Leigh. You will deliver pre‑planned lessons, manage classroom behaviour and keep students engaged when the regular teacher is absent.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of subject teachers.
• Deliver pre‑planned lesson materials and ensure students stay on task.
• Promote positive behaviour and support student learning.
• Take accurate registers and report any concerns to senior staff.
• Assist with general school duties as required.
• Adhere to school policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Confident classroom presence with strong communication skills.
• Flexible, adaptable, reliable and punctual.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils aged 11‑16.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Degree or equivalent qualification.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
• References covering the last two years.
