Cover Supervisor (SEMH) – Secondary School in Blackburn

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Cover Supervisor to deliver pre‑set lessons within the SEMH provision of a mainstream secondary school in Blackburn. The role supports young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, ensuring they stay engaged and can access education successfully.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑set lessons across the SEMH provision in the absence of teaching staff.
• Manage classroom behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.
• Support students with SEMH needs to stay on task and engaged.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams.
• Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people, ideally within SEMH, SEN or alternative provisions.
• Calm, resilient and confident when managing challenging behaviour.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptable and able to think on their feet.
