Cover Supervisor (SEN) – Part‑time, Bristol

About the role

We are seeking a Cover Supervisor with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to work on a part‑time, school‑hour basis across Bristol. You will step in during teacher absences, ensuring continuity of learning and a supportive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated learning activities for SEN pupils.
• Supervise classes during short‑term teacher absence, keeping students on task.
• Provide targeted support and adapt approaches to meet individual SEN needs.
• Maintain records, evaluate progress and assist with support‑plan implementation.
• Prepare students for tasks, pre‑teach where necessary, and supervise practical activities.
• Carry out structured classroom observations and give feedback.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or specialist setting.
• Confident classroom behaviour management using positive behaviour support strategies.
• Patience, empathy and a calm, consistent approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and work independently.
• Degree level qualification; SEN‑related training (e.g., Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support) is desirable.
