Cover Supervisor (SEN) – Part‑time – Bristol

About the role

This part‑time position supports schools across Bristol by covering teacher absences in SEN settings. Working on school days, you will maintain a calm, structured environment and help pupils stay engaged with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes during short‑term teacher absence.
• Deliver pre‑set work and keep students on task.
• Provide targeted support for pupils with SEN, adapting approaches as needed.
• Assist in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities.
• Maintain records of progress and contribute to support‑plan development.
• Prepare students for tasks, including pre‑teaching and practical activities.
• Carry out structured classroom observations and feedback.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or specialist setting.
• Confidence in managing classroom behaviour using positive‑behaviour strategies.
• Patience, empathy and a calm, consistent approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and work independently.
• Relevant degree; SEND‑related qualifications (e.g., Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support) are desirable.
