Cover Supervisor (Temporary, Secondary Schools)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in the Havering borough of East London. The role is temporary and ad‑hoc, covering absent teachers for a full‑day or part‑day, and offers an excellent entry point for individuals passionate about education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver work set by the school in line with its policies.
• Manage pupil behaviour to maintain a constructive learning environment.
• Answer pupils’ questions about processes and procedures.
• Handle immediate problems or emergencies following school policies.
• Collect completed work and return it to the appropriate teacher.
• Report pupil behaviour and any issues using the school’s referral procedures.

Required profile

• Passion for teaching and a genuine interest in supporting pupils.
• Minimum GCSE qualifications.
• Reliability and punctuality.
• Willingness to develop classroom management skills.
• No prior experience required, though previous teaching or covering experience is a plus.
