Cover Supervisor (Unqualified Teacher) – Secondary Schools

About the role

EdStaff is looking for proactive Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Wigan and Leigh. You will step into classrooms when teachers are absent, ensuring learning continues and pupils stay engaged.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 during teacher absence or PPA time.
• Deliver pre‑planned lesson material and keep students on task.
• Promote positive behaviour and a safe learning environment.
• Take accurate registers and report any concerns to senior staff.
• Assist with general school duties as required.

Required profile

• Confident classroom presence with reliable, punctual attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage 11‑16‑year‑olds and build positive relationships.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS.

Required skills

• Degree or equivalent qualification (or comparable experience).
