Cover Supervisors Required - Secondary Schools Across Blackpool

About the role

Hays Education is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to deliver lessons in secondary schools across Wigan and surrounding areas when the class teacher is absent. This temporary position offers a practical way to gain classroom experience and develop teaching skills.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage lessons in the teacher’s absence, ensuring continuity of learning.
• Maintain a positive, engaging learning environment for students.
• Support students to stay on task and complete assigned work.
• Collaborate with school staff to follow lesson plans and health & safety procedures.

Required profile

• Recent (within 2 years) experience working with children or young people in roles such as teaching assistant, youth worker, or similar.
• Confidence in managing groups of students and strong communication abilities.
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS.
• Positive, adaptable attitude with solid references covering recent employment.
