Credit Analyst – Credit Risk Insurance

About the role

Talbot, part of AIG, is seeking a Credit Analyst to join its Credit Risk Insurance team in London. You will evaluate the creditworthiness of a broad range of counterparties, from corporates and banks to sovereign entities, supporting underwriting decisions and contributing to portfolio quality.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth credit analysis of corporate, banking and government counterparties, reviewing financial statements, capital structure, liquidity and debt‑service capacity.
• Assess credit risk across multiple sectors and geographies, with a focus on emerging‑market obligors in MENA, Sub‑Saharan Africa and Asia.
• Prepare concise credit assessments, recommend limits and align with the firm’s risk appetite.
• Liaise with AIG counterparts to shape group credit strategy and appetite.
• Assist the Chief Credit Officer in quarterly and annual credit reviews for the group credit function.
• Monitor macro‑economic and sector‑specific trends to identify risks and opportunities.
• Assign internal credit ratings using the team’s proprietary methodology and benchmark against external agency ratings.
• Maintain rating consistency and document rationale across the portfolio.

Required profile

• Strong analytical rigor with the ability to work in a fast‑moving environment.
• Comfort with macro‑economic complexity and emerging‑market dynamics.
• Proven experience in credit analysis of corporates, financial institutions or sovereigns.
• Excellent written communication to produce clear credit assessments.
• Confidence to form and defend independent credit views.
