Credit Controller – Finance Role

About the role

Join a stable, high‑growth SME based in Bolton as a Credit Controller within a supportive finance team. You will own the credit control ledger, manage customer accounts and help maintain healthy cash flow while building strong relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Set up new customer accounts and ensure documentation is accurate.
• Perform credit checks and set/review credit limits, escalating concerns.
• Manage and maintain the sales ledger, posting and allocating incoming payments.
• Investigate and resolve unallocated cash and account discrepancies.
• Proactively chase outstanding debt via phone, email and written communication.
• Build strong relationships with customers to ensure timely payments.
• Monitor aged debt, own overdue balances and produce regular debtor performance reports.
• Work closely with internal teams to resolve invoicing or query issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Credit Control role.
• Strong understanding of sales ledger processes and cash allocation.
• Confident communicator comfortable chasing debt and building relationships.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• Good working knowledge of Excel and finance systems.
