Credit Model Validation Manager (Machine Learning & NPV Models)

About the role

Monzo is expanding its borrowing business and needs a senior professional to lead independent validation of credit models. You will ensure that machine‑learning and NPV models used for customer‑level decisioning are robust, transparent and aligned with regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hands‑on validation of underwriting scorecards, origination PD models and NPV/unit‑economics models.
• Assess model governance, explainability and performance across the lending portfolio.
• Oversee validation of broader credit‑risk models, including IFRS9, stress‑testing and economic response models.
• Collaborate with first‑line model development teams to provide independent challenge and recommendations.
• Document validation findings and communicate results to senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong analytical background with deep expertise in credit risk modelling.
• Hands‑on experience in model validation or development within a financial‑services environment.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and influence cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Python programming for model development, validation and analysis.
• Machine‑learning techniques applied to credit decisioning.
• Statistical modelling and performance monitoring.
• Credit risk modelling concepts (e.g., IFRS9, PD, LGD).
