Credit Risk Analyst

About the role

This is a front‑office credit risk position supporting a leading precious and base metals trading business. You will assess counterparty creditworthiness, monitor exposures and work closely with traders to enable profitable growth while maintaining a robust risk framework.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed credit analysis on existing and prospective counterparties in the precious and base metals sectors.
• Prepare and manage new credit applications, annual reviews and internal credit rating assessments.
• Monitor and report credit exposures across trading portfolios, ensuring activity stays within approved limits.
• Perform ongoing due‑diligence and financial analysis to detect changes in credit quality and emerging risks.
• Develop strong relationships with counterparties' finance, treasury and risk teams.
• Collaborate with metals traders to assess risk and support commercial opportunities.
• Provide risk‑based recommendations that balance growth with prudent risk management.
• Analyse market developments and their impact on counterparties and trading exposures.
• Produce regular credit exposure and risk reports for senior management.
• Assist in reviewing and enhancing risk policies, controls and governance frameworks.
• Support automation and process‑improvement initiatives to increase reporting efficiency.

Required profile

• Credit risk analysis experience within a commodity trading house, metals merchant, bank or financial institution.
• Experience assessing corporate and institutional counterparties.
• Demonstrable credit risk experience covering precious and/or base metals commodities.
• Understanding of physical commodity trading environments and associated risks.
• Market‑risk exposure is desirable.
