Credit Risk Analyst – Transport & Distribution

About the role

As a Credit Risk Analyst within a transport and distribution business, you will assess the creditworthiness of customers and support the company’s cash‑flow stability. You will work closely with the sales ledger and finance team to manage credit limits, early payments and debt recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Open and renew customer credit accounts after analysing Experian reports and company accounts.
• Review the “75 % list” to adjust credit limits or arrange early direct debits.
• Enter and verify customer account details and oversee the account opening process.
• Transfer supplier electronic data files, resolve errors, and raise sales invoices for fuel drawings.
• Assist the credit controller with early invoicing, direct debits and debt chasing.
• Analyse accounts with multiple early payments to decide on limit changes, deposits or closures.
• Manage bank reference checks and liaise with customers to clarify poor credit reports.
• Provide cover for monthly payroll, fuel margin analysis, and weekly/monthly stock reconciliations.
• Support ad‑hoc departmental tasks and review credit accounts across group companies.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Experience in financial analysis and credit risk assessment.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive approach to identifying and mitigating financial risks.
