Crime Paralegal – Criminal Defence Team

About the role

The firm is expanding its Criminal Defence Team in west London and is looking for a Crime Paralegal to support a busy litigation practice. You will work alongside solicitors and senior paralegals, handling legal‑aid matters from the police station to the magistrates’ court.

Key responsibilities

• Attend police stations to take statements, gather evidence and liaise with officers.
• Prepare and file bail applications, court documents and other administrative paperwork.
• Assist solicitors with case preparation for magistrates’ court hearings.
• Maintain accurate client files and update case management systems.
• Provide day‑to‑day support for the criminal defence team, ensuring deadlines are met.

Required profile

• At least 2 years’ experience in criminal defence within a UK private‑practice law firm (essential).
• Strong understanding of legal‑aid procedures and criminal court processes.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
• Willingness to obtain police‑station accreditation if not already held.
