Crime Paralegal

About the role

Our client, a leading criminal law firm in Hounslow, is seeking a dynamic, commercially‑minded Crime Paralegal to support both legal‑aid and private criminal defence work. The role involves providing high‑quality assistance to fee earners on a variety of general, serious crime and fraud matters, with the flexibility to respond to business needs as they arise.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support to solicitors and barristers on criminal defence cases.
• Conduct legal research and draft written communications to agencies and clients.
• Maintain case files using the firm’s integrated practice management system.
• Assist with preparation of court bundles, witness statements and other documentation.
• Adapt working hours to meet the demands of high‑profile, time‑sensitive matters.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience as a paralegal in a busy criminal defence practice.
• Resident in West London and able to commute to the office within 45 minutes.
• Police Station Accredited Representative status is advantageous.
• Strong commitment to criminal defence and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team, and maintain a strong work ethic.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Computer literacy and proficiency with an integrated case management system.
• Legal research capability.
