Criminal Defence Paralegal

About the role

A multi‑office, upper‑tier legal aid firm is looking for a Criminal Defence Paralegal to join its City of London team. The role offers exposure to a broad range of criminal matters, supporting solicitors throughout case preparation, client work and court processes, and provides hands‑on experience across the full case lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Support case preparation from instruction through to completion
• Conduct legal research and draft case documents
• Manage case files and maintain accurate records
• Liaise with clients, courts and external parties
• Assist with evidence gathering and disclosure
• Arrange hearings and meetings
• Attend court when required

Required profile

• Experience in a criminal law environment
• Strong communication and client‑care skills
• Proven ability to support cases through the criminal process
• Good organisation and file‑management ability
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of legal aid processes
• Police Station Accreditation or willingness to obtain it
