About the role

We are seeking an experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor to join our specialist Criminal Law team at Richard Nelson LLP. The role involves providing high‑quality legal advice and representation to private paying clients facing investigations or prosecutions across a wide range of criminal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload covering multiple areas of criminal law, from road traffic offences to complex regulatory investigations.
• Provide confidential, client‑focused advice and representation at every stage of a case, including investigations, court appearances, and sentencing.
• Utilise case management systems and IT tools efficiently to maintain accurate records and cost‑effective work practices.
• Travel nationwide to attend police stations, courts, and regulatory bodies as required.
• Ensure all work complies with the firm’s professional standards and policies.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with proven experience in criminal defence.
• Strong advocacy and communication skills, able to explain complex legal options clearly.
• Client‑centred approach with sensitivity, discretion, and a commitment to minimizing the impact of proceedings.
• Willingness to travel across the UK to meet clients and attend hearings.
