Criminal Justice Mentor – Support for Post‑Release Clients

About the role

We are seeking a Criminal Justice Mentor to join a charity‑run programme delivering specialist support to individuals leaving prison. Working across Cambridge and Huntingdon probation sites, you will help clients build a clear, structured plan for successful reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct one‑to‑one sessions with post‑release clients to assess needs and set goals.
• Provide guidance on housing, health care, education, wellbeing, life‑skills and employment.
• Coordinate with community services and probation teams to ensure continuity of support.
• Develop and monitor personalised resettlement plans, tracking progress and adjusting interventions as required.
• Maintain accurate records and share relevant information with partner agencies.

Required profile

• Experience working with people in the criminal‑justice system (prison, probation or resettlement).
• Background in supporting vulnerable groups such as those with mental‑health issues, substance misuse or homelessness.
• Relevant qualifications or experience in criminology, social work, or related fields.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach.

Required skills

• Knowledge of probation and resettlement processes.
• Understanding of housing, health, education and employment services for ex‑offenders.
• Ability to develop structured support plans and monitor outcomes.
