Criminology Graduate – Support Role for Children with Special Needs

About the role

This term‑time position supports a specialist school for children aged 7‑19 with social, emotional and mental health challenges. It is ideal for graduates who want to gain experience working with young people while exploring pathways into teaching or therapeutic roles.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative assistance to teachers and therapists.
• Support individual children with their academic tasks.
• De‑escalate situations when a child becomes agitated.
• Assist children with eating and occasional toileting needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to set learning outcomes for lessons.
• Supervise children around the school campus.

Required profile

• Valid child and adult DBS (support available if not already held).
• Commitment to working with children with special needs.
• Empathy, patience and resilience.
• Willingness to work during term‑time hours.
• Ability to follow safeguarding measures.
