Critical Environment Technician (Shifts)

About the role

As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) you will keep Microsoft’s datacenters running by maintaining and monitoring the equipment that controls temperature, power, and air quality. The role works in shifts and requires rapid response to any abnormal condition that could affect operations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as an operations specialist in a major area of critical environment (electrical, mechanical, controls, or generators) and perform advanced tasks independently.
• Inspect and supervise facility equipment such as HVAC, heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, mechanical systems and building grounds, identifying unsafe or abnormal conditions and escalating per policy.
• Use the internal computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track assets and complete work‑order requests.
• Lead onsite incident response teams, coordinate with other critical facilities professionals and execute corrective repairs without supervision.

Required profile

• Hands‑on understanding of critical environment equipment and its operation.
• Ability to work safely in a high‑availability datacenter environment, including shift work.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the capacity to act quickly during incidents.
