Custody Paramedic Practitioner – Registered Paramedic for Police Custody

About the role

We are looking for a Registered Paramedic with experience in police or prison custody to join a dedicated custody suite team in London. The role involves delivering urgent and long‑term medical care to detainees, including mental health support, within a fast‑paced, multi‑agency environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and monitor the health, safety and welfare of detainees in police custody.
• Develop and implement individualised care plans for vulnerable individuals with complex medical needs.
• Provide clinical guidance to custody staff and ensure accurate clinical and police documentation.
• Respond to and lead clinical emergencies, including resuscitation and acute mental health incidents.
• Collect forensic samples to support police investigations.

Required profile

• Valid HCPC registration (Pin) and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Previous experience delivering healthcare in police or HMP custody settings.
• Competency equivalent to NHS Band 6.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Venepuncture proficiency from day one.
• Forensic sample collection.
• Clinical assessment and emergency care.
